The Middle School Jazz Ensemble
| The 07-08 Haverford Middle School Jazz
Ensemble is
under the direction of Mr. Mike Norton and is comprised of students in
grades 6, 7 & 8 who qualify by audition. These students rehearse
three times per week before school for 30 minutes. The emphasis with
the ensemble is on performing a wide variety of styles with particular
attention to developing jazz improvisation skills. The group has
received many awards and honors over the years one of the highlights
being a performance for the Music Educators All-Eastern conference in
Baltimore, Maryland in 1997.
Auditions are held each year in early October. Students must prepare an audition piece that is supplied by the director. Regular rehearsals begin in late October. |
