Middle School Jazz Announcements/Assignments

1. Bring in your signed permission form. Review the list of performances with your parents.

2. Memorize the major, dorian, mixolydian and scales in Bb, Eb and F. Be able to play from memory, the pentatonic blues scale in Bb, Eb, and F concert.

3. Daily practice on improvisation. Use your CD or go to the Jazz Practice on-line page to work on the solo sections for the songs we are rehearsing.

4. Listen to jazz frequently. Purchase one or more of the recommended CDs. Also, listen to WRTI 90.1 FM in the evenings. In order to become an accomplished jazz performer you must listen to jazz often.
